Vercel names Stripe veteran Jeanne DeWitt Grosser as COO

Vercel has appointed Jeanne DeWitt Grosser, formerly Chief Business Officer at Stripe, as its new Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Grosser will lead Vercel's go-to-market function as the company looks to scale its platform for what it describes as "the next billion developers."

Grosser arrives after 18 months as an advisor to Vercel, during which she worked closely with the team. Her background includes helping Stripe grow revenue from $100 million into the billions, where she pioneered usage-based go-to-market approaches and developed key partnerships. Earlier in her career, she shaped Google Workspace's growth model during a period before product-led growth became a widely recognized strategy.

Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch framed the hire around the company's operating philosophy, which he calls "recursive founder mode" — a working style characterized by rapid execution and pushing boundaries. He said Grosser's track record at developer-first companies aligns with that approach.

Scaling from indie developers to enterprises

In an interview introducing Grosser, Rauch asked how she sees Vercel's go-to-market strategy evolving. Grosser said Vercel has a deeply loved product, and the challenge ahead is scaling it in a way that serves everyone from independent developers to the largest enterprises without losing what makes the platform distinctive.

Grosser noted that the playbook for go-to-market in AI-driven, consumption-based businesses is still being written. She pointed to Vercel's use of its own platform as a testing ground, citing v0 as a product that is changing how developer-adjacent teams build for the web. Vercel's approach involves both making AI more accessible to developers and offering a platform that can handle modern AI-powered web applications — most companies, she said, focus on only one of those two things.

Among the reasons Grosser cited for joining were the company's ambition, its customer focus, and the energy of the team. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the culture and standards of the early days as the company grows, alongside operational rigor.

Open source and AI tooling ahead

Vercel's roadmap includes continued investment in v0, the AI SDK, and Next.js as the company builds tools for AI-driven applications while preserving its open source commitments. Grosser's leadership is intended to strengthen the operational foundation that supports those efforts.
