This page describes how material gets into the Tech Report index and what standards we hold ourselves to.
Selection
We index engineering writing that explains how problems were actually solved: post-mortems, deep dives, benchmarks, migration reports and practical guides. Marketing announcements, press releases and listicles are filtered out. Inclusion is never paid.
Attribution
Every entry keeps the original author's name, the publication it appeared in and the publication date. Author pages aggregate each writer's work with their photo and profile links where the author has made them public.
Categorization
Articles are assigned to one of fourteen topics using the source's own section data first and content analysis second. If you believe an article is categorized incorrectly, let us know.
Corrections and removals
Mistakes happen. If you are an author or publisher and want your listing corrected or removed from the index, write to us — removal requests are honored without questions, usually within 72 hours.
Independence
Tech Report has no commercial relationship with any of the indexed publications. Ordering on the site is chronological or by relevance to your query — never by payment.
