Figma Buzz adds design-system templates, plugins, and video trimming
Figma Buzz, the company's tool for building on-brand marketing assets, is getting three updates aimed at giving brand teams more control over customization while keeping marketers inside brand guidelines. The new capabilities connect Buzz templates to design-system component properties, bring plugins into the editor, and add direct video trimming.
The updates build on features added since Buzz entered open beta, including video import/export, team library connections, and Unsplash stock image support. All three new features are designed to reduce context switching and give teams finer control without leaving the Buzz canvas.
Templates driven by component properties
Buzz templates now work with component sets and properties defined in Figma Design. Brand designers can copy templates they have built with these structures and paste them directly into Buzz, where the properties carry over automatically. This lets marketers switch between layout variants, toggle elements on or off, and swap approved instances from within the template picker's "Change layout" panel, instead of sifting through dozens of nearly identical template files.
For marketers, this means browsing a smaller set of flexible templates and making choices through dropdowns and toggles that are constrained to the options the brand team has approved.
Plugins arrive in Buzz
Plugins, a long-standing feature in Figma Design, are now available inside Figma Buzz. The initial set focuses on categories marketing teams frequently rely on:
- Digital asset management: Air, Brandfolder, Bynder, and OrangeLogic let teams pull approved images into Buzz and push finished designs back to the DAM.
- Translation management: Lokalise, Phrase, and Translated bring localized copy directly into templates, supporting global campaign scaling within the design context.
- Animation: Jitter and LottieFiles enable motion design on the canvas, from animated headlines to simulated on-screen interactions.
Teams can also build and publish their own internal plugins, or share them via Figma Community.
Direct video trimming
Figma Buzz already supported importing and exporting video files. The new trimming capability lets users shorten clips directly in the editor, eliminating the need to switch to a separate tool to fit a video to a time constraint or to align multiple clips in a single asset.
The update applies to use cases like video collages for event pages and animated backgrounds for social ads, where precise clip length matters. With trimming available inline, teams can keep the whole production workflow inside Buzz.
Together, the three features aim to make Buzz a more complete shared workspace for brand designers and marketers producing campaign assets.
