Cloudflare CASB extends coverage to Atlassian Confluence and Jira
Cloudflare announced two additions to its Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) during Security Week: support for scanning Atlassian Confluence and Atlassian Jira. The integrations expand CASB’s existing roster of SaaS connectors, which already includes Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Salesforce, Box, and GitHub.
CASB gives security operators a single view of their SaaS applications, allowing them to connect and scan for misconfigurations and risky behavior. Once issues are detected, they are presented in a triage-ready list. The new Atlassian integrations apply that same model to two widely used collaboration and project management tools.
Confluence scanning
Confluence is a central hub for teams to create and share documents, notes, and meeting minutes. Because of its flexibility and third-party ecosystem, Confluence can easily drift into insecure configurations if the settings are not closely supervised.
With the new integration, CASB scans Confluence Cloud instances for Atlassian-specific security issues. IT and security teams can spot publicly shared content, unauthorized access, and other vulnerabilities that could expose corporate data. The goal is to provide an added layer of SaaS security without giving up the collaborative functionality of the platform.
Jira scanning
Jira has become a fixture in software development workflows for issue tracking and project management. That central role makes it an attractive target for attackers seeking access to sensitive operational data.
Using CASB with Jira Cloud, security teams can identify issues such as account misuse, users violating best practices, and problems with third-party app access. The scans can also flag files that may be overshared and warrant further review. This brings Jira into the same consolidated security view that CASB provides for other SaaS tools, so teams can monitor risk without switching between interfaces.
Getting started with the new integrations
Confluence and Jira join the expanding list of applications that CASB supports. The full list is currently Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Salesforce, Box, GitHub, Jira, and Confluence, with more applications slated for future release.
