Cloudflare launches Digital Experience Monitoring beta

Cloudflare has opened its Digital Experience Monitoring (DEX) product to beta testing for all Cloudflare One customers. The toolkit measures how employees experience internet connectivity, offering data for troubleshooting, evaluating carriers and ISPs, and understanding remote work patterns. Administrators can run tests on any device using the Cloudflare One agent.

Synthetic Application Monitoring

Synthetic Application Monitoring schedules HTTP GET tests against public or private applications at specified intervals. For example, a team relying on Gmail could verify consistent performance across global locations without manually checking from each site.

Results draw on Cloudflare's network infrastructure, with tests routed through the nearest data center to reflect actual user experience. Response times from multiple locations are plotted over time, helping administrators spot trends, detect anomalies, and identify performance issues. The time series charts also break down server and DNS response times, offering insight for optimizing server configurations and DNS settings.

Additionally, status code visualizations show the frequency of each HTTP status over time, making it easier to investigate surges in client or server errors that could affect users.

Fleet Status for WARP-enrolled devices

Fleet Status provides real-time visibility into the connection state, mode, and location of all devices running the Cloudflare WARP client. The WARP client routes device traffic through Cloudflare's network, where Gateway applies filtering and Zero Trust policies can check device health before access is granted.

The global view summarizes device fleet status at a glance, while per-device views expose details such as location, platform, client version, and connection method. Time-series data helps administrators determine whether connectivity issues are isolated incidents or recurring patterns, enabling proactive troubleshooting before disruptions spread.

Availability and next steps

Cloudflare plans to add further visibility options and more customizable testing as DEX evolves. The company is soliciting user feedback through its product form and community forum to guide future development.

Current Cloudflare One users can access DEX immediately from the dashboard with no activation required. Cloudflare's free plan includes DEX for up to 50 users at no cost. Enterprise plan customers receive ten synthetic application tests, while users on other plans can create up to five.
