Joyn tunes streaming performance with Vercel

For streaming platforms, speed is the price of entry. German service Joyn, which offers thousands of on-demand videos along with more than 60 live channels, turned to Vercel to host its Next.js app and accelerate development. The engineering team wanted a platform that offered a smoother deployment process and a better developer experience.

Since migrating, the team reports that deployments are now “incredibly fast,” letting them ship more frequently. Developers can also view feature branches in a live environment immediately after a commit, which shortens the loop for gathering and applying feedback.

The move also brought measurable performance gains. Joyn saw First Contentful Paint improve by 47% and Time to First Byte get 17% faster, translating to a near-instant viewing experience for users—critical in a crowded streaming market.
