npm Is Now Officially Part of GitHub
GitHub has announced that its acquisition of npm is now complete. The public npm registry will remain available and free for the millions of developers who depend on it, according to the announcement.
With npm now under the GitHub umbrella, the teams have outlined three immediate priorities:
- Engaging with the community
- Investing in the registry infrastructure and platform
- Improving the core experience
The move positions GitHub to support the JavaScript ecosystem through npm in a new capacity, with both organizations sharing more details about what the transition means for developers in their respective blog posts.
