Leaving Tailwind, but missing its colour palette

A developer who gave up Tailwind for vanilla CSS found they still missed one thing: Tailwind's carefully designed colour scales. Instead of guessing shades, they could grab blue-100 and adjust from there. Not being "good with colours," they valued having a palette put together by someone with a better eye.

Tired of those same Tailwind colours, they asked Mastodon for alternatives. A friend then wanted the links collected, so this post rounds them up.

Colour generators and tools

Several generator links came in too: harmonizer, tints.dev, coolors, and colorpalette.pro. These tools have always felt too complex to the author, but the links stay for a future attempt.

One more tool, colorhexa, offers information on colourblindness.

oklch

For dynamic colour generation, Generative colors with CSS demonstrates the oklch CSS function.
