From Beta to Broad Availability

Cloudflare’s product pipeline moves fast. Many tools launch in beta — sometimes publicly, sometimes not — and the company’s large customer base stress-tests those early versions against the messy reality of the live internet. When the testing phase concludes, the product reaches General Availability (GA), and this week is dedicated to that transition.

GA week isn't just about flipping a switch. Cloudflare's development model favors shipping early, iterating quickly, and refining until a product is best-in-class. That approach has already produced category leaders in areas like WAF, DDoS mitigation, bot management, API protection, CDN, and the developer platform — areas where analyst firmssuch as Gartner, Forrester, and IDC now recognize Cloudflare as a leader. That reputation has earned trust from organizations including Broadcom, NCR, DHL Parcel, Panasonic, Canva, Shopify, L'Oréal, DoorDash, and Garmin.

A Familiar Challenge

Cloudflare has heard the "new kid on the block" criticism before. The current iteration of that skepticism comes from Zero Trust vendors who view Cloudflare as a novice. The company sees a familiar pattern: competitors in DDoS, WAF, bot management, DNS, API protection, and serverless made similar claims before Cloudflare overtook them.

The speed of innovation is intentional. Cloudflare operates three main innovation teams — Product/Engineering, Emerging Technology and Incubation, and Technology/Research — each tackling projects on different time horizons, with room for ideas from elsewhere in the company.

A Year of Milestones

This week happens just before Cloudflare's 12th birthday, which will bring theannual Birthday Week. In past years, that event has been the stage for radically new offerings. The teams have been working on projects they believe will reshape how people view Cloudflare. But before those surprises land, GA Week highlights products that have already made appearances on this blog — previously in beta, now ready for full production use.

The volume of products exiting beta is significant enough that Cloudflare has spun up a new Innovation Week-style event: Cloudflare GA Week. Software will still reach GA throughout the rest of the year; this week simply concentrates the announcements into a focused period.

Real Customers, Real Usage

Even during beta phases, these products have been exercised by actual customers in real environments. This week includes stories from those users, showing not just what the products do but how they enable new workflows and outcomes. The goal is for every product discussed to be both reliable and a market leader, with the full portfolio forming a platform that Cloudflare argues has no equivalent in the industry.
