A Front-End & Design Conference Returns to New York
SmashingConf is heading back to New York City this October. The event runs October 10β13, 2022 at the New World Stages venue. It is a single-track conference built for designers and front-end engineers who want practical, applicable takeaways rather than just theory.
The program consists of two days of conference sessions, with five hands-on workshops scheduled around them. Twelve speakers are on the lineup, covering topics such as design systems, UX, CSS, JavaScript, web performance, and accessibility. Known speakers include Jason Pamental, Cassie Evans, Una Kravets, Laura Kalbag, Steve Schoger, and Eva Ferreira, alongside a few more names and a Mystery Speaker. The organizers emphasize that the atmosphere is meant to be inclusive and friendly, with plenty of networking opportunities built into the schedule.
If you cannot make it in person, the main stage talks will be streamed live online. The online option includes video recordings of the sessions, plus some behind-the-scenes footage and backstage interviews with speakers and organizers.

Hands-On Workshops
Attendees can extend their stay with full-day workshops running the day before and the day after the main conference. The sessions focus on tangible, immediately useful material rather than abstract concepts. This year's workshop topics cover SVG animation, accessibility testing, and complex interface design patterns.
Workshop tickets can be purchased separately, and bundle discounts are available if you combine a workshop with a conference pass.

Ticket Options
There are two ways to attend. An in-person plus online pass is priced at $699.00, while an online-only pass costs $200.00. Smashing Membership holders can save up to 25% on either option. For those who need approval from their manager, a Convince Your Boss PDF and a letter template are available to help make the case.
- In-Person + Online: $699.00 β October 10β13, New World Stages, NYC.
- Online Only: $200.00 β includes all video recordings.
Group Attendance
Teams looking to attend together can take advantage of bundle tickets and team discounts. For large groups or special requests, the organizers can be reached directly via email.
Beyond the Sessions
The conference is not just about the talks. Side events are planned before, during, and after the main days. The evening before the conference starts, there is a gathering with drinks and lightning talks to help attendees meet new people. Each morning starts with a run in Central Park, and the conference closes with a photo walk around the city.
Health & Safety
All attendees must be fully vaccinated to access the conference venue, workshops, and associated parties. Full details are available in the COVID-19 guidelines. The event also has an accessibility statement and a Code of Conduct.
