Skeleton screens are a recurring pattern in front-end development—nobody may love them, but they serve a purpose and are not something you’d want to hand-roll each time. That makes them a solid fit for a reusable web component.
Ryan Trimble built skellyCSS while at work, his first Node package for the most part, and it’s now out in the open. The idea is to drop in skeleton loaders without rebuilding the same markup and styling repeatedly.
Alongside the library, he points to Scott Jehl’s Web Components De-Mystified course, which serves as a useful primer for anyone looking to understand the underlying technology better.
