Dropbox at Hack the North
Dropbox engineers spent the weekend at the University of Waterloo for Hack the North, meeting students who traveled from across the continent to build projects. The team delivered a talk on the Dropbox API and awarded a prize for the best integration built during the event.
The API prize went to FedUp, an Android app and website designed to help protect users during police encounters. The four-person team met during summer internships in San Francisco and applied to Hack the North together. The project's source code is available on GitHub.
Demoing the API
Leah and I presented an introduction to the Dropbox API and demonstrated a sample application to help attendees start building. The demo app combines Dropbox Drop-ins with API calls to let users browse past revisions of a file stored in their Dropbox. The app is open source and also deployed to Heroku.
Many student teams incorporated the Dropbox API into their hacks over the weekend. We appreciate the opportunity to support Hack the North and look forward to seeing what participants build next.
