Cloudflare for SaaS exits beta with per-hostname pricing

Cloudflare for SaaS, the company's integrated platform for third-party SaaS providers, is now generally available on Free, Pro, and Business plans. The service bundles origin setup, traffic encryption, content delivery, WAF protection, and analytics into a single offering designed to remove infrastructure work from a SaaS provider's roadmap.

The company's goal is to collapse the long checklist that typically delays a SaaS launch — origin server setup, TLS certificate management, global performance tuning, bot and attack protection, scalability, and customer-facing reporting — into a managed platform. Providers keep their own branding and control while each customer domain inherits the security and acceleration settings configured on the SaaS zone.

What the managed layer covers

Each task in the traditional launch checklist is mapped to a Cloudflare component:

  • Origin setup → Workers
  • Traffic encryption → SSL for SaaS
  • Availability → Cloudflare's Anycast network
  • PerformanceArgo Smart Routing and caching
  • Vanity domains → Custom Hostnames
  • Threat protection → WAF and Bot Management
  • Scaling → Workers
  • Reporting → Custom Hostname Analytics

Pricing model

Each customer domain attached to the service counts as one Custom Hostname. For each hostname, Cloudflare automatically provisions a TLS certificate, and the hostname inherits the full product suite — from Bot Management to Argo Smart Routing — already configured on the provider's SaaS zone.

Custom Hostnames are billed at $2 per month each, prorated from the time they are onboarded. A provider creating 10 hostnames at the start of the month and another 10 mid-month would be charged $30 at the end of the month. The model is designed so providers pay only for active customer domains, and it gives an ongoing incentive to remove hostnames for churned customers.

Enterprise customers can review separate information on Cloudflare for SaaS developments targeting larger deployments.

Early production users

Several providers ran on the beta platform and demonstrate the range of use cases.

mmm.page, a drag-and-drop website builder for collage-like personal sites, uses Cloudflare to get server-side flexibility with static page load times. The company reports an 80% reduction in server costs and credits Custom Hostnames with saving months of development work by handling domain attachment and SSL management. Workers have absorbed tasks that would have been significantly slower to implement inside their existing backend monolith.

Lightfunnels, an e-commerce and lead generation platform, lets users connect their own domain names with SSL to their sales funnels. The platform handles high traffic volumes through Cloudflare Workers, serving pages from the nearest edge and using the Workers caching API to reduce backend round trips. "Using Cloudflare for SaaS along with Cloudflare Workers made building a reliable, secure, and fast infrastructure a breeze," said Yassir Ennazk, co-founder and CEO.

Ventrata, a multi-channel booking platform for attractions and tour operators, needed to put booking portals on client-controlled domains. With Cloudflare for SaaS, the company gained Firewall, image caching, Workers, and free TLS certificates on custom hostnames, and implemented the integration in four lines of code without infrastructure or DevOps help.

Migration for beta participants

Providers who were accepted into the Cloudflare for SaaS beta will receive notice next week about moving to the paid version.
