Standing Out in a Sea of Simple Web Design
With much of the web already neat, clean, and simple, there are three distinct ways to pull a site away from the pack.
- Stunning visuals that can’t be produced with UI vector editors like Figma or Sketch.
- Beautifully animated interactions that go beyond the typical "stacks of rectangles" layout language.
- Typography.
The last option is the most approachable and offers a prime opportunity for brand differentiation. Expect a typographic renaissance, with more serifs, throwbacks, quirky styles, and genre-bending typefaces gaining traction. As a result, font pairing will emerge as an ever more valuable skill, and brand font selection will carry significantly more weight in the near future.
The payoff is essentially a design cheat code.
🔥 There are only two “cheatcodes” in UI design. The first is: USE GOOD FONTS. Here, the popular but slightly too goofy Abril Fatface pales in comparison to stately Freight.
