A New Landing Page for the Cloudflare for Teams Dashboard
The Cloudflare for Teams team has spent the past few weeks discussing the design philosophy behind its dashboard. That series wraps up with the release of a new feature called “Home,” a landing page built to give users a consolidated snapshot of their entire Teams environment.
Home is designed around four principles the team says guide its product decisions: transparency, warmth, guidance, and adaptiveness. Here is how each one shaped the new page.
A Single Pane of Glass
The primary goal of Home is transparency. It pulls together network and application traffic data into one view, so administrators can quickly spot anomalies or simply keep tabs on activity across everything protected by Teams. This replaces a prior experience where relevant signals were scattered across different parts of the dashboard.
The page also surfaces the current user count and includes a direct link to the plans page for subscription changes, removing a few extra clicks from common administrative tasks.
Warmth Without Sacrificing Function
Security tools often feel clinical, and the team wanted Home to avoid that. Through deliberate color choices and tone in the interface copy, the goal was to make the dashboard feel approachable while remaining practical.
The design accounts for context. A friendly tone is fine for a casual check-in, but not when an environment is at risk and a user needs to identify a problem quickly. Conversational copy is therefore used sparingly, most notably in a cheerful greeting that dominates the top of the page, matching the tone of the existing Quick Start experience.
Even the loading screen gets the treatment: an animation references Cloudflare’s network, while rotating lines of copy play on the theme of building and cleaning a physical home—a light touch that doesn’t get in the way.
Guiding Users Toward Their First Steps
As the Teams product family has expanded, Home aims to surface complementary features that are central to the user journey. The footer provides direct access to Cloudflare Radar, the Teams Help page, and a quick-start guide with starter configurations. The goal is to make Zero Trust security principles approachable by establishing clear paths through the interface.
For example, a user who signed up for Secure Web Gateway can, from Home or Quick Start, add Zero Trust rules in front of applications in just a few clicks—and the reverse is true for those coming in through the Access side.
Empty states were also rethought. Instead of simply indicating that no data exists, the new states guide users toward actions that will populate the charts.
Built to Evolve
The modular structure of Home was a deliberate choice to accommodate future growth. As the team ships new features, those additions will have a predefined place on the page. The near-term roadmap includes more data signals and further customization options for each user’s view, along with easier ways to submit feedback on the experience from within Home.
