The Design Squiggle: A Thirty-Second Pitch for the Messy Middle
There’s a shared, intuitive sense that creative work — whether in design or code — starts uncertain and messy, then straightens out with some wiggling and setbacks before settling on a single shipped solution. That feeling now has a logo: The Design Squiggle.
The concept comes from Damien Newman, who says a client gave him 30 seconds to sell the value of design, and this visual did the trick.

It’s a bit amusing to take such a small idea and give it a grand presentation — a dedicated website, a story with plenty of name-dropping, and very specific attribution instructions. But it undeniably expresses a complex thing quickly. It brings to mind a boss a buddy once had, who claimed to have invented the Curiously Strong motto for Altoids and wasn’t shy about mentioning it.
