Smashing Meets Accessibility

The videos from Smashing Magazine's recent event on accessibility were just posted the other day. I was invited to host the panel discussion with the speakers, including a couple of personal heroes of mine, Stéphanie Walter and Sarah Fossheim. But I was just as stoked to meet Kardo Ayoub who shared his deeply personal story as a designer with a major visual impairment.

Smashing Meets Accessibility: Event Videos Now Available

Smashing Magazine has released the recorded sessions from its recent online event focused on accessibility. The lineup includes talks from Stéphanie Walter, Sarah Fossheim, and Kardo Ayoub, each now viewable in full on YouTube.

A Designer’s Personal Story

The panel discussion, hosted by our own editor, brought together the speakers for a deeper conversation. Among them, Kardo Ayoub stood out for sharing his personal journey as a designer navigating a major visual impairment. His account of the events leading to his condition, the initial shock, and his path to becoming an industry leader was particularly moving—so much so that the host admitted to holding back emotions during the talk.
