Figma Adds Two New Board Members

Figma announced that Mike Krieger, Chief Product Officer at Anthropic, and Luis von Ahn, co-founder and CEO of Duolingo, have joined its Board of Directors. Both bring experience building platforms with massive global user bases and a track record of close collaboration between product and design functions.

Krieger previously co-founded Instagram, serving as CTO while scaling the app from a few million to over 1 billion monthly active users. He later built Artifact, a personalized news application, before it was acquired by Yahoo. At Anthropic, Krieger oversees product engineering, product management, and product design.

"Mike is an 'n of 1' product leader who brings both big vision and pixel-level craft to everything he builds," said Figma CEO Dylan Field. "Mike was an early angel investor in Figma, and I've always enjoyed discussing the future of design, product and AI with him. I'm looking forward to Figma benefiting from his perspective as well."

Von Ahn co-founded Duolingo in 2011 and has led its growth to more than 100 million monthly active users, with lessons available in over 40 languages. Before Duolingo, he co-created CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA. Field noted that Duolingo's approach to design has influenced Figma as a customer, citing von Ahn's habit of sitting with his design team.

"For a long time I've had a founder crush on Luis," said Field. "Duolingo's dedication to design and craft is exemplary, and Figma has learned so much from Duolingo as a customer. This all stems from Luis who famously sits with his design team, and despite his computer science background, is a champion for design across the industry."

Krieger and von Ahn join the existing board, which includes:
