Speed, scale, and stability for headless commerce

Commerce-UI is a boutique agency focused on composable eCommerce, building optimized and performant storefronts for design-driven brands. Working with Next.js and Vercel, the agency helps clients such as Lift Foils make the leap to headless commerce while keeping the shopping experience seamless for a global audience.

Why old stacks fall short

Many of Commerce-UI's clients arrive from WordPress or custom PHP setups. Those technologies, according to CTO Michal Wolczecki-Klim, become a bottleneck when brands want to deliver more personalized experiences. "It wouldn't be possible to build a sustainable system using their old technologies," he says, noting that legacy infrastructure also forced the agency to dedicate a full DevOps team just to keep sites running.

Because eCommerce sites are typically rich in images, video, and other multimedia, maintaining responsiveness under heavy content loads is a priority. Vercel handles that infrastructure for both dynamic and static content, which is why Commerce-UI pairs it with Next.js as its recommended stack.

Handling overnight virality

Lift Foils is a case in point. After the brand went viral and saw site traffic double overnight, it needed a fast path into new regional markets. Commerce-UI used Edge Middleware to spin up dedicated pages per region, each localized and personalized. That approach kept the experience fast and stable even during traffic spikes of 200%.

Clients benefit directly from the underlying infrastructure as well. Incremental Static Regeneration (ISR) lets Commerce-UI's team—and their users—create or update content without redeploying the site. All the while, Core Web Vitals stay strong, with Cumulative Layout Shift held at zero.

"ISR is vital for building our ecommerce sites in terms of performance and stability. Being able to first statically build all sites and spot some potential bugs is a win. It's a non-complex and reliable system for us."

A better workflow for developers

Commerce-UI also prioritizes the developer experience, not just the end-user experience. Preview Deployments simplify collaboration with stakeholders, while webhooks can trigger site rebuilds automatically when, for instance, Shopify configurations change. The result is easier cross-team sharing, faster time to production, and out-of-the-box support for modern tech stacks.

That smoother workflow keeps the whole system running reliably, whether a site is just launching or scaling up to meet sudden viral demand.
