Figma's latest round of small-but-mighty workflow fixes
Figma has rolled out another batch of incremental improvements across its design and collaboration tools, building on the "Little Big Updates" initiative introduced earlier this year. The new release touches on everything from annotation behavior to mobile gestures, with a focus on smoothing out friction points in daily workflows.
Design and layout refinements in Figma
A handful of updates aim to make object manipulation and text handling more intuitive. When a top-level frame is selected, subsequent top-level frames are now picked up automatically. Objects can be aligned as a temporary group without a separate group/align/ungroup sequence—just hold Shift while clicking alignment buttons. Double-clicking a gradient stop now distributes stops evenly across the gradient, speeding up palette organization.
Pencil strokes in annotations no longer get clipped or disturb auto layout in frames. Copying and pasting between text nodes preserves formatting, including bullets and text styles, and text alignment shortcuts work directly inside the text box. Links in comments now open without an interstitial page in between.
Faster diagramming and sticky workflows in FigJam
Shape and sticky creation is now quicker thanks to new auto-create prompts at the top, bottom, left, and right edges. The Connector tool's 'X' cursor persists by default, so you can stay in the diagramming flow; press Esc or 'V' to return to the Move tool. New guidelines help match shapes to the same height and width, and connectors automatically straighten when objects look center-aligned.
Hovering over stamps on a sticky reveals the user who left them, and right-clicking a sticker provides a link to its parent library. Copy and paste can also be used to replace image fills directly in FigJam.
Desktop, mobile, and Community tweaks
The desktop app now has a notification bell in the menu bar to keep you aware of activity while working. The beta app must be installed or updated to the latest version to access this feature. In the FigJam iPad app, the Apple Pencil responds more quickly, and undo/redo gestures have been added: a two-finger tap for undo, a three-finger tap for redo, and three-finger swipes left or right for either action. Observation mode and Spotlight are also now supported for seamless collaboration in the iPad app.
Search results have been improved with recent searches shown in the preview, and list views now display file owners. Keyboard navigation allows you to cycle through all file collaborators with up/down keys and by typing names, and Tab plus Shift+Tab navigate the comments modal. Finally, the Figma Community has been redesigned with new categories and search filters.
