iOS 13 Design Guidelines, Templates, and Downloads
Erik Kennedy has published a collection of design advice aimed at designing for the iPhone. He describes it as being like Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, "only illustrated and readable."
The material is largely aimed at native iOS apps, which raises a question for mobile Progressive Web Apps: how much of this is expected there? On one side, building this sort of thing on the web looks fun, and a web app that feels super native would be pretty cool. On the other, that approach risks feeling awkward on Android and other non-iOS platforms.
A few more questions worth asking
- How much of this comes "for free" when using SwiftUI?
- Flutter / Material apps, as the author understands it, do smart cross-platform work when built, mimicking how each platform does things (Flutter / Material).
Kennedy also runs in-depth design training with enrollment that opens only occasionally; the next session opens March 4th.
