Figma’s $50M Series D Led by a16z
Figma has announced a $50M Series D round of funding, led by Peter Levine and Marc Andreessen at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). The round also includes participation from existing investors Index, Greylock, KPCB, Sequoia and Founders Fund, as well as Henry Ellenbogen from Durable Capital and several angel investors.
CEO and co-founder Dylan Field shared the news in a community letter, framing the investment around the company’s broader ambition to make design accessible to everyone—particularly as usage patterns shift. With more blurred lines between home and work, Figma has seen increased engagement beyond traditional interface design. Users are now leveraging the tool for visual whiteboarding, diagramming and slide creation. New use cases have emerged as well, spanning virtual design sprints, city building and even Minecraft skin creation.
The new capital will be directed toward strengthening the core design and prototyping platform, with an emphasis on making it the most powerful and reliable way for teams to collaborate. At the same time, the company plans to explore dedicated product offerings geared toward an expanding set of use cases in visual communication and creativity, serving both designers and non-designers.
Field acknowledged the ongoing COVID-19 context as a motivating factor for accelerating this work, and closed by inviting interested candidates to explore openings on the company’s careers page.
