Figma rolls out Korean-language open beta, its third full product localization
Figma is launching a fully localized Korean version of its platform in open beta, with a phased rollout beginning April 16. Korean becomes the company's third complete product localization, following Japanese and Spanish, as part of an ongoing push to make design tools more accessible to non-English-speaking users.
The localization covers the entire product interface as well as culturally adapted UI elements and dedicated customer support for Korean-language users. According to Figma, the move reflects demand from customers who want a tool that works in their own language rather than requiring them to switch between languages during development work.
"One of the most common requests we get from customers around the world is for a product that is intuitive and speaks their language," said Yuhki Yamashita, Chief Product Officer at Figma. "We're thrilled to make the lives of our Korean customers easier through a fully localized product and support tailored to their needs."
Korean usage and adoption figures
Figma reports substantial existing adoption in South Korea. Nearly a third of companies in the KOSPI 200 index currently use Figma, and the country saw more than four million Figma files created in the past year, with over 75,000 files edited daily on average. Local customers range from large enterprises to newer startups, including KakaoBank, Woowa Brothers, Daangn, and Gangnam Unni. The Seoul chapter of Friends of Figma, the company's community program, has more than 1,000 active members.
KakaoBank, a South Korean internet bank, attributes a 30% increase in employee productivity to Figma. "Figma is the first tool we open in the morning," said Seung-Hwan Lee, Design Lead at KakaoBank. "Having it fully localized means we can work much faster on critical projects without having to think in two languages."
Woowa Brothers, the technology company behind delivery platforms in South Korea, likewise welcomed the change. "Figma has transformed how we conceptualize and develop our digital products," said Kwanhee Cho, Senior Design Director. "Being able to work 100% in Korean lifts a huge language barrier, allowing more people into the design process."
Broader localization context
The Korean rollout comes as Figma's user base grows increasingly global: 85% of monthly active users are located outside the United States, and non-U.S. markets accounted for roughly half of revenue at the end of 2024. Nearly two-thirds of monthly active users work beyond traditional design roles, with approximately 30% identifying as developers.
"Having to switch languages while building products is an unnecessary drag on creativity," said Scott Pugh, Vice President of APAC at Figma. "Imagine opening Figma and seeing everything in your native language. This opens up the design and development process, making it easier for people—both designers and non-designers—to collaborate in Figma."
The localization arrives alongside a series of recent product releases aimed at supporting end-to-end product development: FigJam, a whiteboarding tool launched in 2021; Dev Mode, introduced in 2023 to help translate designs into code; Figma Slides, a presentation tool launched in 2024; and a suite of AI-powered features also introduced in 2024.
Figma's annual user conference, Config, is scheduled for San Francisco on May 6-8 and London on May 14, where the company plans to announce additional products and features.
