The community picks its first award winners
Figma has announced the winners of its first-ever Community Awards, honoring the plugins, widgets, templates, and resources that designers publish to the Figma Community. The awards crown ten winners across categories that span utility, content, team workflows, and design assets, with winners revealed at the Config conference on May 11.
The competition began back on April 14, when community members could nominate any published resource by clicking the 'Nominate' button on the resource's page at figma.com/community. Finalists were announced on May 2, and voting ran through May 10, with the winners decided entirely by the community.
Favorite plugins
Two plugins took home honors. In the extending-utility category, Similayer by Dave Williames won for its ability to select similar layers based on a range of properties. In the content-adding category, Content Reel by Eugene Gavriloff and Microsoft earned the award for offering a palette of text strings, images, and icons that can be pulled directly into a design.
Favorite widgets
Two widgets were celebrated. FigJenda by PG Gonni won in the team category for providing an interactive agenda that runs through workshops and meetings using the FigJam timer. For utility or fun, Rock Paper Scissors by Alex Einarsson took the win as a classic game to break ties and kick off sessions.
Favorite FigJam templates
Remote Design Sprint by Miranda Mazzara, Danila Gallardo, and Aerolab won in the team-bonding category for letting teams run a five-day sprint without prior experience. The ideation award went to Customer Journey Map by Fuad Aslan, a framework for understanding the customer's perspective.
Favorite Figma resources
Four more categories covered files and educational materials. The UI Kit crown went to Ant Design Open Source by Mr Biscuit and Vinh Bui, recognized as an open source design system with advanced instance flexibility. css.gg by Lona and Astrit won for icon sets, offering over 700 pure CSS, SVG, and Figma UI icons. Micro interactions - Prototyping by Rusmir Arnautovic took the educational prize for its samples of Figma prototyping capabilities. Finally, Sketch Elements Brushes Set by Streamline won in the graphic resources category for its abstract elements and sketch annotations.
How the voting worked
Community members with a Figma Community profile could nominate as many files, plugins, and widgets as they liked between April 14 and 22, but each resource could only be nominated once. Nomination counts were not publicly visible to keep the process fair. Winners were recognized at an awards ceremony at Config on May 11, receiving a physical Community Award and Figma swag. Figma encouraged creators to share their nominations publicly under the #FigmaCommunityAwards hashtag on Twitter.
