A batch of small refinements across Figma
Figma recently shipped a new batch of 30 updates. The changes aren't headline features but rather a collection of UX tweaks and fixes aimed at reducing friction in everyday workflows. Here's a breakdown of the key improvements.
Streamlined vector and stroke controls
The stroke panel has been redesigned for easier customization of vector objects. You can now adjust end caps directly to create arrows and fine-tune stroke properties on connectors copied from FigJam. The pencil tool also sees improvements: you can select stroke properties before drawing, and any settings you use with the pencil or pen tools will be remembered for future use.
Faster text and image handling
A handful of changes speed up common actions. Copying images as PNG is now available in the browser via ⌘+Shift+C/Ctrl+Shift+C, whereas it was previously desktop-only. You can also hold ⌘/Ctrl while resizing an image to crop it immediately. Pasting an image during text editing now exits text mode and inserts the image directly.
Text export options have been expanded with an “include bounding box” setting in the Editor, along with a corresponding use_absolute_bounds parameter in the Plugin API. The old “Contents only” export option has been renamed to “Ignore overlapping layers.”
Easier property adjustments
Several small changes remove unnecessary clicks. Math operations can now be used when adjusting properties that accept mixed values. Adding a second fill to an object now defaults to a solid color instead of a gradient. Image adjustment sliders are immediately active—no need to click them first. The repositioning buttons (such as Align To Top) remain active even while editing text.
Improved navigation and selection
The redesigned missing font dialog now lets you click to see affected layers, and copying text with a missing font activates the global missing font icon. Copying stickies from FigJam to other places now sorts the text to match the original layout. New rulers are automatically selected after creation, allowing for immediate keyboard nudging or deletion. Icon updates in the layers panel are faster, and the panel will now scroll to find the selected layer when using keyboard shortcuts.
UI polish and platform fixes
A number of visual and interaction refinements are included: a redesigned, less intrusive cursor hand; a smaller selection background when renaming files; an increased hit target for the top menu chevron; and a hover state for frame presets. The “Move to project” dialog can now be dismissed by clicking outside or pressing Esc. Icons in the layers panel reflect object states more quickly.
For Safari users, scrubbing fields with ⌥ plus mouse movement works in the browser, and the right-click menu no longer dismisses too eagerly. Middle-click now opens selected links for mouse users. Using “Z” to zoom no longer shows the selection rectangle to others in the file. Toolbar dropdown opening in View Only mode has been fixed, and drag handles on grid property rows display correctly.
The checkered issue of the “+” option appearing for text nodes with mixed styles has been removed, allowing for easier overrides with a new style or color. Preferences now sync automatically across open tabs without a reload.
