Cutting Migration Downtime for Critical Oracle Systems

The CDC mechanism is designed to support a controlled switchover that can take place well after the initial data copy is complete. This permits thorough testing of the PostgreSQL target system before finalizing the migration, providing flexibility throughout the process.

While data availability is paramount, having a fall-back plan is equally important. In the event that a migration must be aborted for any reason, the minimized downtime approach means returning to Oracle requires minimal effort, so there is no need to schedule extensive downtime only to discover an issue afterward.
