GitHub Universe returns as a hybrid event

GitHub Universe 2022 is now open for registration, and for the first time in two years the event will be hybrid. Attendees can join in person at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on November 9-10, or participate virtually. Both options provide access to the event’s full program of keynotes, sessions, and networking opportunities.

The conference is organized around four learning tracks: cloud, security, AI, and community. Across more than 80 sessions, GitHub will cover topics ranging from moving development to the cloud and securing the software lifecycle to applying machine learning and growing open source participation. A complete session lineup is expected in mid-October.

Ticket options and pricing

Early bird pricing is available through September 30, with a 20% discount applied automatically at checkout. Three ticket tiers are offered for in-person attendance:

  • Day passes and General Admission passes include entry to all content sessions, access to demo stages and kiosks, participation in #AskGitHub, one hands-on workshop (with separate registration opening October 11), and access to all virtual and on-demand content.
  • VIP passes add reserved seating for the daily keynotes in the Blue Shield of California Theater, where GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke and other speakers will present.

For remote attendees, the virtual experience pass is free and includes all keynotes, sessions, and hands-on content.

The learning tracks at a glance

Cloud

Sessions in this track will examine how cloud-based development platforms improve collaboration and productivity, with examples drawn from a range of industries.

Security

This track focuses on practical approaches to securing the software development lifecycle. Topics include tooling and best practices for shipping secure software at scale, managing risk, and remediating vulnerabilities.

AI

Coverage here spans how organizations and the GitHub community are using machine learning in product development and operations. There will also be sessions on using GitHub itself to improve developer workflows and starting or scaling AI initiatives.

Community

With open source forming the foundation of much of the world’s software, this track explores its impact on businesses, ways to get involved, and how innersource practices can break down organizational silos.
