A free LatinX in Tech conference, live on September 15
The Octogatos, GitHub’s employee resource group for LatinX employees, invites you to OctogatosConf22, a free LatinX in Tech conference streaming live on September 15, 2022. The event brings together LatinX technologists and allies to celebrate culture and heritage through interactive talks and live networking.
Sessions will be delivered in Spanish, Portuguese, and English with live translation, covering software development, security, technical project management, open source, professional development, and best practices. The conference’s mission is to amplify, promote, and empower LatinX voices in tech—so whether you’re looking to deepen your involvement in LatinX representation or simply learn from industry leaders, you belong here.
Who’s on stage
Juan Pablo Buritica (Spanish) is a software engineering leader originally from Bogotá, Colombia, now based in New York City. He has built and led distributed teams at Stripe and Splice and currently heads engineering at Ritchie Bros. Off the clock, Buritica builds developer communities across Latin America—and enjoys empanadas.
Nina da Hora (Brazilian Portuguese) is a computer scientist, researcher, and activist. She is a researcher at the Center for Technology and Society of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (CTS-FGV), a columnist for MIT Technology Review, a member of TikTok’s Security Council, and a participant in the transparency commission for the 2022 Brazilian elections. In 2021, she was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Brazil list.
Mario Rodriguez (English) is VP of product management at GitHub, focused on GitHub Issues. He previously led GitHub Enterprise and, before that, Microsoft’s Azure DevOps Platform and Artifacts team. Rodriguez identifies as a lifelong learner; when away from product engineering, he spends time with his wife and two daughters.
