Cloudflare reorganizes SaaS docs around use cases
Cloudflare for SaaS bundles a broad set of capabilities for SaaS providers: custom domain support, traffic encryption, attack protection, performance optimization, and origin management. The product was made broadly available in 2021, but Cloudflare says customers struggled to figure out how to actually apply those features. The documentation tended to focus on SSL/TLS configuration, leaving other integrated products harder to discover.
Cloudflare has now restructured its Cloudflare for SaaS documentation to close that gap. The new docs are organized around six main categories, each covering a product area rather than a single setting. A Get Started page walks you through the initial setup, and from there you can drill into the configurations that match your priorities as a provider.
Finding the right configuration
The reorganization maps Cloudflare's features to the problems SaaS providers care about, making them easier to locate. Cloudflare highlights three new guides as examples of what the restructured docs surface:
Rather than relying on vague section titles, the documentation is now organized by outcomes, which Cloudflare says makes the advantages and possibilities of the product more visible. The six-category layout is designed to help you determine which options fit your needs, even if you are still unsure about your own goals.
Performance and security guides expanded
The restructured docs also add previously missing guidance. Performance, for instance, was not covered before in the context of SaaS. The new Performance section explains the automatic latency benefits of onboarding with Cloudflare for SaaS, then offers three ways to reduce latency further, each with its own dedicated page:
Security similarly gains a dedicated WAF for SaaS section, which was previously hidden among the broader Cloudflare for SaaS feature set. It covers automatic protection from vulnerabilities as well as the ability to write custom rules. A step-by-step tutorial using Cloudflare Managed Rulesets accompanies that documentation.
More guides on the way
The docs overhaul is not the end of the work. Some tutorials, including the Managed Ruleset walkthrough, are live in the docs already, but Cloudflare plans to add more step-by-step guides for its SaaS products and add-ons. Workers for Platforms documentation is specifically called out as an area that will expand.
