State of CSS 2025 Survey Now Open
The State of CSS 2025 Survey is now live, and this year’s questionnaire reflects a remarkable wave of features that shipped to CSS over the past twelve months. The survey covers a broad range of new capabilities, including calc-size(), shape(), scroll-driven animations, container scroll-state queries, CSS Carousels, and the text-box trimming properties text-box-edge and text-box-trim. It also asks about field-sizing, ::target-text, @function, display: contents, advanced attr(), the if() conditional, and the sibling-related functions sibling-index() and sibling-count().
While these are all significant additions, the most valuable questions may be the optional ones placed at the end of each section: “What are your top CSS pain points related to ______?” These responses help browser vendors and the CSS Working Group decide where to focus their efforts next. Because they are optional, they tend to attract only the most opinionated respondents, which can skew the data toward issues that perhaps don’t affect the broader community. Even if you only have a mild annoyance with CSS, filling in those sections can help provide a more balanced picture.
