Why Layout Still Deserves a Deep Dive
Modern CSS offers a staggering amount of layout control, but mastering it is less about memorizing properties and more about understanding the core mental models: document flow, writing modes, and how the display property actually drives the strategies you build on. For anyone new to CSS, those are the concepts worth internalizing first—before reaching for any framework or utility library.
A new, focused workshop aims to help developers do exactly that. Cascading Layouts, taught by Miriam Suzanne, is a live online course running April 28–30 that concentrates on building resilient, maintainable layouts using only native CSS. No third-party tools required.
The Instructor
Miriam is uniquely positioned to teach this material. She works directly on CSS specifications, is a core contributor to Sass, and has a long track record as an educator.
