Web notifications interface becomes the default on GitHub.com

Following months of testing, learning, and iteration, the new web notifications experience for GitHub is now the default on GitHub.com. The revamped interface, first previewed at Universe, aims to help users quickly locate and act on notifications from the desktop or while away from it.

Designed to reduce notification fatigue, the new interface includes custom filter workflows, keyboard shortcuts for clearing notifications quickly, and features that free up time for collaborative work like unblocking a teammate or assisting with a pull request.

Continued improvements ahead

Feedback indicates that users feel more productive and responsive with the updated experience, but further refinements are planned. GitHub is soliciting additional feedback to guide future enhancements to the notifications system.
