GitHub InFocus returns for a four-day virtual event
GitHub InFocus runs April 26-29 this year, with each day devoted to a core theme: accelerate, secure, and improve. The sessions are aimed at engineering leaders who want practical guidance on security, efficiency, and developer productivity from GitHub's own product and solutions teams.
Opening keynote: GitHub's 2022 direction
The conference opens April 26 with a global keynote featuring GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke, SVP of Product Matthew McCullough, Principal Solutions Engineer Kevin Alwell, and Staff Researcher Eirini Kalliamvakou. The broadcast covers GitHub's product roadmap, recent research and innovation, and how teams can apply the SPACE framework to measure and improve productivity. No registration is required to attend.
April 27: Building a faster development pipeline
The first themed track looks at what DevOps actually means in practice—not just tooling, but the cultural shift around collaboration, process, and measurement that makes it work.
In "Propelling your DevOps to new heights," GitHub's Senior Technical Advocate Jon Peck and Principal Solutions Engineer Glenn Wester will discuss how integrating security, audit, and compliance into the pipeline leads to higher-quality code and faster deployments.
April 28: Making security part of development, not an add-on
The security track focuses on developer-first practices. GitHub Application Security Executive Shlomi Shaki frames the challenge as cultural rather than technical: "It's about having a culture, mindset, and environment that empowers developers to build security easily instead of making it an afterthought."
Shaki joins Director of Solutions Engineering Pierluigi Cau for "Building a frictionless application security program." The session covers eliminating processes and tools that add friction to security work, plus streamlining early detection and remediation of vulnerabilities to improve cyber safety and application resilience.
April 29: What organizational efficiency really means
The final track tackles organizational efficiency—a term that gets thrown around frequently but rarely defined. GitHub Principal Solutions Engineer Bas Peters offers a working definition: reducing waste in the development process so developers can concentrate on their best work.
Peters and Enterprise Account Manager Maya Van Vliet will share tactics, tools, and concepts in "What true 'organizational efficiency' means—and how to get your business there" that attendees can apply directly to time-to-market and competitive positioning.
