Print Editions of Wizard Zines Are Now Available
Wizard Zines has opened a print store, making physical copies of its four “Bite Size…” zines available for the first time. The initial run includes 350 copies of each title.
Production and Shipping Details
The zines are printed by Girlie Press on higher-quality paper than a typical home printer can manage. The author initially considered print-on-demand services, but test prints from those vendors did not meet the desired quality bar.
Orders are fulfilled by White Squirrel, a small shipping company near Seattle that specializes in handling distribution for artists. The author chose to outsource fulfillment rather than manage orders directly.
Pricing and Extras
Shipping is free for US orders over $30 and international orders over $50. Each print zine purchase also includes the corresponding PDF version, delivered via a download link in the confirmation email.
Customers who previously bought a PDF version of any of these zines can use the discount code PASTBUYER for 40% off the print edition. The code requires using the same email address associated with the original PDF purchase; issues can be reported to [email protected].
The store also offers stickers as add-ons: an strace sticker, a TCP witch from the cover of let’s learn tcpdump, and a space penguin from how containers work. Orders containing the full four-zine pack include all three stickers plus a bonus sticker sheet featuring the cover of Bite Size Command Line (including awk and grep stickers).
Future Plans
Only the four “Bite Size…” zines are currently available because the author was uncertain about demand and wanted to avoid overprinting. Additional titles, bulk pricing (for team purchases, classes, or conference swag), and posters are planned for future releases. As of the announcement, nearly half of the initial print run had already sold.
The print editions are available at https://store.wizardzines.com, or via the “print version” link on each individual zine page, such as https://wizardzines.com/zines/bite-size-bash.
