Quick search arrives in the Cloudflare dashboard
Cloudflare is rolling out a beta of quick search, its first cross-dashboard search tool. The feature is currently available to a small percentage of customers, and others can request early access via this form.
The tool is designed to speed up navigation across the Cloudflare dashboard, which now hosts a large and growing set of products. From anywhere in the dashboard, users can trigger quick search with the magnifying glass icon in the top navigation, or with the Ctrl + K shortcut on Linux and Windows or ⌘ + K on Mac.
What the first release covers
This beta includes three core capabilities: finding dashboard pages, navigating website-only products, and locating account-wide products. In all cases, results load with each keystroke.
Searching dashboard pages
Typing a product name returns any matching entry in the current sidebar navigation. Clicking a result jumps straight to the relevant page.
Website-only products
For customers managing a website or domain, quick search can surface the security, performance, and reliability features tied to that site. The search works from anywhere in the dashboard, including from within another website. You can find a site by its name, and from there reach its Overview page:
You can also navigate to product pages inside a specific site using either of two approaches:
- Search for the website by name first, then pick from its results.
- Search for the product or feature first, then narrow the results by website.
Account-wide products
Products that aren’t tied to a domain — such as Workers, R2, and Magic Transit, plus their sub-pages — are also searchable, making those dashboard areas easier to reach.
Current limitations and roadmap
The beta doesn’t yet index product- or feature-specific names and configurations, such as Worker names, DNS records, IP addresses, or Firewall Rules. It also doesn’t return results from within the Zero Trust dashboard, or from Cloudflare content outside the dashboard like Support or Developer documentation.
Cloudflare plans to expand quick search over time to index all product content, Support and Developer docs, support search across accounts, and cache recent searches. The company also says quick search is part of a broader push to improve the dashboard experience, with more updates to the in-app experience and global navigation coming. Customer feedback can be submitted via the feedback link at the bottom of the search window.
