SREcon APAC 2023: Call for Participation Closing Soon
The call for participation for SREcon APAC 2023 ends March 2nd. USENIX's SREcon conference remains the primary venue for learning about the latest in systems engineering, not just site reliability engineering. Program co-chairs Brendan Gregg and Jamie Wilkinson are particularly interested in hearing from engineers in the Asia/Pacific region, and the conference will be held in Singapore from June 14–16.
The conference is actively seeking deep engineering talks that cover gritty technical internals, advanced tools, and complex problems. According to the CFP:
You build computer platforms, debug them, and support them, and you have learned something useful to share: You are invited to submit proposals to give talks at SREcon23 Asia/Pacific, which welcomes speakers from a variety of backgrounds, not just SRE, and from a variety of different-sized companies, not just those that are technology-focused. Your insights will help create a relevant, diverse, and inclusive program. Conversations are never complete when they focus just on successes; we encourage talks that focus on lessons learned from failures or hard problems.
At the seventh SREcon Asia/Pacific, we are especially seeking the deepest engineering talks: Those that cover gritty technical internals, advanced tools and techniques, and complex problems that may matter to others, whether your solutions were elegant, ugly, or unsuccessful.
The program committee is expressly welcoming new speakers, noting that many of the best talks have historically come from people with fresh perspectives. The event also emphasizes inclusivity across professional roles—QA testers, performance engineers, security teams, OS engineers, DBAs, network administrators, compliance experts, UX designers, government employees, and data scientists are all encouraged to participate.
Beyond the general call, the organizers are making a deliberate push for local content from the Asia/Pacific region. While conferences like this typically draw strong representation from major technology companies, the program co-chairs believe every organization has interesting production stories to share. Particularly welcome are talks about production incidents where the tools and approaches can be broadly applied, as well as stories about incidents that escaped the standard tooling and methods.
For those who have attended USENIX LISA in the past, the organizers note that SREcon has effectively absorbed much of that community. LISA 2021 may have been the last stand-alone edition of that conference, with many of its engineering principles now living on and developing within the SREcon program.
