GitHub Universe turns ten with a bigger Bay Area edition

GitHub has opened the full agenda for GitHub Universe 2024, its tenth annual developer conference. The event runs October 29–30 at the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, with virtual attendance available worldwide. Early Bird in-person tickets are discounted 20% through September 3.

Organizers bill the gathering as "the world's fair of software," with programming spanning AI, developer experience (DevEx), and security. The expanded footprint covers a 13-acre waterfront campus across seven buildings, with five stages hosting more than 100 sessions and 150 speakers. Attendance is projected to exceed 3,500 people in person—roughly 50% more than last year.

Onsite experience and extras

In-person tickets include breakfast, lunch, food trucks, snacks, and beverages. Attendees can browse the GitHub Shop for conference merchandise and join sponsor-hosted happy hours.

Two add-ons are available when purchasing an in-person ticket: GitHub Certification testing and onsite workshops, both of which require advance reservation. GitHub warns these slots are limited.

Separately, the GitHub Social Impact program is offering virtual micro-mentoring sessions for students from October 21 to November 1. Each 30-minute one-on-one session pairs students with GitHub employees for resume feedback, career advice, or skill development. Applications close September 18.
