January\'s Fresh Start

For those drawn to a cheerful winter scene, PopArt Studio from Serbia offers a design that captures the spirit of the season. The artwork places a celebratory seal at the center, a nod to spreading warmth and joy as January\'s calendar begins amid snow-dusted trees.

Seal-abrating The New Year

The "Seal-abrating The New Year" wallpaper is available for download from the preview page and comes in both versions with a calendar and without one, with resolutions spanning from mobile-sized 320x480 up to widescreen 2560x1440.

An Abstract Take on AI

Swedish designer Ricardo Gimenes takes a more abstract route with this month\'s collection. His contribution, simply titled "AI," offers a visual meditation on artificial intelligence without relying on literal depictions.

The wallpaper is accompanied by a preview and, like the seal design, is offered in both calendar and no-calendar variants. Notably, this design supports a larger set of screen resolutions, including the ultra-high-definition 3840x2160 (4K), making it a more future-proof option for high-end displays. Sizes begin at 640x480.

Polar Companions

January’s chill invites a visual trip toward the poles, and this design captures a serene moment of fishing from an iceberg with penguin companions. The artist behind the piece hopes it carries a message of sharing the year with those and things that bring joy.

The Door to the Year

The etymology of “January” traces back to ianua, the Latin term for door, making this month a natural symbol of entry into a new cycle. For the Northern hemisphere, January also marks the coldest stretch of winter. PopArt Studio’s visual metaphor plays on that linguistic origin – a door swung open, inviting a promising year.

Snow, Santa, and Serenity

The transition into January often brings a mix of snowy landscapes and the motivation for a fresh start. The designs here capture that seasonal duality perfectly, offering everything from whimsical holiday mishaps to serene winter scenes.

LibraFire from Serbia imagines a quiet post-Christmas scene where Santa, weary from his gift-giving journey, has dropped a few presents that lucky animals discover. The designer intends it as a well-wish for the holidays and the act of giving.

Winter's Playfulness

Some designers looked to the season itself for inspiration, finding joy in the cold. Veronica Valenzuela from Spain presents a celebratory scene of penguins awaiting the new year in the snow. Meanwhile, Ricardo Gimenes, originally from Sweden, offers a straightforward take on a classic winter icon with a "Snowman" design.

Fresh Starts and Home Inspiration

January is also a time for motivation and simple reflections. Carolina Sequeira from Portugal has crafted a lettering-based wallpaper for the occasion. Her design focuses on the idea that the new year represents a fresh start and aims to project a positive feeling that an exciting journey is just beginning.

A New Beginning

Taking a cue from a more personal environment, designer Arno De Decker from Belgium found his muse close to home. His design, "January Fish," was directly inspired by his own fish tank at home. It adds a whimsical, aquatic touch to the start of the year.

January Wallpapers: Fresh Looks for the New Year

As the new year begins, a fresh wallpaper can set the right tone for months ahead. This January, the community has contributed a selection of desktop backgrounds that range from playful illustrations to serene winter landscapes.

Marija Zaric from Belgrade, Serbia, contributes a piece titled Freedom. She explains, "It is great to take shots of birds and think about the freedom they have. Then I start dreaming of becoming one and flying around the world with their beautiful wings." The wallpaper is available without a calendar for screens from 800x450 up to 2560x1440.

Freedom

A more whimsical take comes from Maria Keller in Mexico with Dare To Be You. The illustration features a little monster with a personal message behind it: "The new year brings new opportunities for each of us to become our true selves. I think that no matter what you are — like this little monster — you should dare to be the true you without caring what others may think. Happy New Year!" This wallpaper supports a wide range of mobile and desktop resolutions, from 320x480 to 2880x1800.

Dare To Be You

Rest Up For The New Year

Rest Up For The New Year
Designer Dorothy Timmer, from Central Florida, USA, draws inspiration from the “Festival of Sleep.” Her commentary highlights the appeal of rest during the cold months: “I was browsing for themes when I found this “Festival of Sleep” that takes place on the 3rd, and I’m a big fan of sleep… Especially in these cold months after the holiday craziness, it’s nice to get cozy and take a nice nap.” The wallpaper is available in both standard desktop and mobile sizes, including 640x1136 and 750x1334.

Oaken January

Oaken January
The team at PopArt Studio from Serbia offers a design rooted in cultural tradition. As they explain: “In our country, Christmas is celebrated in January when oak branches and leaves are burnt to symbolize the beginning of the new year and new life. It’s the time when we gather with our families and celebrate the arrival of the new year in a warm and cuddly atmosphere.” This piece thus combines a symbol of renewal with the comfort of togetherness.

Rubber Ducky Day

Rubber Ducky Day
For a brighter take on the season, Ilya Plyusnin from Belgium contributes a cheerful wallpaper in honor of Rubber Ducky Day. The designer notes the intention to counteract the winter gloom: “Winter can be such a gloomy time of the year. The sun sets earlier, the wind feels colder, and our heating bills skyrocket. I hope to brighten up your month with my wallpaper for Rubber Ducky Day!” The vibrant image is available in numerous resolutions, from 320x480 to 2560x1440.

A New Year, A New Desktop

January carries a particular kind of energy — the sense that the slate is clean and anything is possible. For designers, that mood often translates into fresh visuals, and this month’s wallpaper collection leans into that spirit of renewal.

Zlatina Petrova from Bulgaria captures the hopeful side of the season with a piece that compares January to an early bird. The design leans into the idea of a new beginning, pairing inspiration with a sense of quiet optimism.

The Early January Bird

Petrova’s wallpaper is available with a calendar overlay or without, and comes in a broad range of resolutions, including 320x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080, and 2560x1440, among others.

Winter Scenes and Fresh Starts

The theme of resolutions shows up in a few different forms this month. Elise Vanoorbeek from Belgium offers a take on the classic New Year’s resolution, while Maxim Vanheertum, also from Belgium, goes for a more playful winter woodland scene featuring a deer.

New Year's Resolution

Vanoorbeek’s design includes calendar and no-calendar versions, with sizes ranging from 800x480 up to 2560x1440.

Vanheertum’s piece, titled “Oh Deer!”, is inspired by the majesty of deer in their natural habitat. It’s a lighter, more whimsical addition to the collection.

Oh deer!

The no-calendar version of “Oh Deer!” supports a wide array of display sizes, from 320x480 all the way to 2560x1440.

For those who prefer a quieter, more minimal aesthetic, Annika Oeser from Germany contributes a landscape piece featuring snow-covered peaks. The stark white mountains offer a calming contrast to the busier, more illustrative designs in the set.

White Mountains

Oeser’s wallpaper also ships without a calendar and covers common desktop resolutions, including 1366x768, 1440x900, and 2560x1440.
