ShopTalk Expands Into Short-Form Video
Dave and Chris have launched a small video section on the ShopTalk website, with twelve entries so far. The clips run between ten and twenty minutes each, with every installment zeroing in on a single fairly specific topic. The duo describe the effort as tentative — they have not even settled on a proper name for the format yet.
The videos are being distributed via the CSS-Tricks YouTube channel, so existing subscribers may already be seeing them. For those who prefer old-school syndication, there is also a direct RSS feed available for the video posts.
Dave explains the motivation in a companion post: video gives them a chance to revisit mouth-coding examples and overly visual concepts that tend to lose clarity in an audio-only podcast. He notes that the lack of visual examples is a real limitation for a visual field like web design and development, and views the YouTube series as supplementary material to the podcast rather than a replacement.
The announcement closes with a few open questions and requests:
- Topic suggestions are welcome in the comments section or via other channels.
- Feedback is requested on production quality, episode length, thumbnail design, and anything else that might appease the YouTube algorithm.
- They are asking whether the show should eventually be streamed live.
- And yes, they are asking for likes and subscribes.
