SF Developer Meetup: Recap and What’s Next
Dropbox hosted a developer meetup at our San Francisco headquarters in December. The event was a success, and we’ve already lined up the next one: a meetup in New York City on January 30, 2018. You can find details and RSVP on the event page.
Attendees enjoyed food and refreshments from the Dropbox Tuck Shop, toured our HQ, and picked up some of the first swag released since our brand redesign.
Ross Piper, Dropbox’s Product Head of Ecosystem and Developer Platform, presented the vision for the DBX Platform. Members of the Dropbox Engineering team also took part in a panel discussing their work with our APIs.
Throughout the evening, developers shared feedback on where we should focus in 2018 and engaged in detailed conversations about their integrations and use cases. Key themes emerged from these talks:
- The productivity landscape is changing quickly, and developers are finding new use cases.
- Nearly all apps include file storing, sharing, and collaboration functionality, which requires a broad range of backend features that can be hard to build.
- Compliance and governance are becoming more important across most applications.
Many developers also told us that using Dropbox APIs for the heavy lifting has sped up their development and helped them scale.
