Schadenfreude: A New Benchmark Tool for Riemann
Kyle Kingsbury has released Schadenfreude, a benchmarking tool built to improve Riemann’s performance. The tool is already yielding profiles via the accompanying riemann-bench suite, which compares recent releases in single-threaded TCP server throughput.
Initial results show loopback read latency dominating the tests, capping throughput at roughly 8–9 kiloevents per second. Kingsbury plans to use Schadenfreude to focus on client-side improvements, particularly for high-volume and multicore workloads.
