A New Wallpaper Collection for May

With May approaching, it's time to refresh your desktop and mobile screens with a new set of wallpapers. This month's collection features designs created by artists and designers from around the world, each offering both calendar and calendar-free versions for free download.

This marks another installment in our long-running monthly wallpaper series, which has been inviting creative contributions for over twelve years. Whether working in lettering, illustration, or photography, participants are given complete creative freedom to craft their own unique artworks, shared with the community to spread inspiration and brighten screens. The theme of each wallpaper comes entirely from the artists themselves.

Every image in this gallery can be clicked for a larger preview. All releases are offered across a wide range of resolutions for both desktop and mobile devices, available with or without a May 2023 calendar. As a bonus, this month also includes a selection of timeless May favorites from the archives. We thank all the artists who shared their work this month.

If you're interested in participating, submissions are open for future collections, and contributions can be featured in upcoming posts.

May Wallpapers: Three New Additions

The May wallpaper collection continues with three distinctly different designs, each offering a unique interpretation of the month. The selection covers vibrant color palettes, relaxed summer vibes, and minimalist typographic inspiration.

Bright and Juicy

“May should be as bright and colorful as this calendar! That’s why our designers chose these juicy colors.”

This design by MasterBundles from Ukraine brings a vivid burst of color to your screen. The wallpaper is available in a wide range of resolutions, from 320x480 for mobile devices up to 2560x1440 for large desktop monitors. Both versions with and without the calendar are provided.

Summer Chill

The second addition interprets the start of summer as a relaxed, carefree state of mind. Kasturi Palmal from India describes the concept: “It is a time when people slow down and enjoy the warm weather. The atmosphere is laid-back and easy-going, with a focus on having fun and creating happy memories.”

This design comes in both a calendar-equipped version and a clean edition for those who prefer their screens unobstructed.

Moving Mountains

The final design in this batch plays with typography and form. Philippe Brouard from France was inspired by the letter "M" in May: “The ‘M’ inspired me, and my idea for the wallpaper was to make mountains, smooth mountains, of course.”

This offering includes an ultra-wide 3840x2160 resolution (4K) among its available sizes, with both standard and 4K options covered in calendar and no-calendar variants.

A Call to Protect Childhood

Designer Hrishikesh Shome from India uses his May wallpaper to spotlight a serious global issue: child labor. The design serves as a visual reminder that children deserve the chance to learn, play, and grow in safety, rather than being pushed into work at an early age. Shome encourages individual action through supporting companies with strict anti-child-labor policies and raising community awareness, hoping that collective effort can build a world where every child is free from the burden of labor.

From the Archives: May Favorites Worth Another Look

Each month brings a fresh batch of new wallpaper designs, but sometimes it’s worth revisiting older submissions. The selection below collects standout May wallpapers from past years — everything from bold and graphic to quiet and delicate. These are calendar-free, so they work for any screen all month long.

Hello May

“The longing for warmth, flowers in bloom, and new beginnings is finally over as we welcome the month of May. From celebrating nature on the days of turtles and birds to marking the days of our favorite wine and macarons, the historical celebrations of the International Workers’ Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Victory Day, to the unforgettable ‘May the Fourth be with you’. May is a time of celebration — so make every May day count!” — Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia.

All Is Possible In May

“Edwin Way Teale once said that ‘[t]he world’s favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May.’ Now that the entire nature is clothed with grass and branches full of blossoms that will grow into fruit, we cannot help going out and enjoying every scent, every sound, every joyful movement of nature’s creatures. Make this May the best so far!” — Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia.
