A Fresh Start for Your Screen

It’s time to refresh your desktop with a new set of wallpapers. For this edition, creatives from around the world have designed original artwork to mark the start of July 2022. Every download is available in two formats: one that includes a calendar for the month and one without, so you can choose the version that best fits your setup.

The work featured here reflects each artist’s own vision. When we put out the call for submissions, we give contributors full creative freedom—we don’t suggest themes or guide the direction of their work. That’s why the designs vary so widely, from playful to abstract to serene.

All wallpapers are free to download, and you can preview any design by clicking on its image. If you have an idea of your own, we’re always accepting submissions for the monthly series—you might see your work in a future post.

Melting July

Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia, this wallpaper leans into the heat of the season. The artwork shows a vibrantly colored ice cream cone that is literally melting under the summer sun. As the designer puts it: “Welcome to the sweltering July—the month when it’s so hot that even the fruits are edgy. Our ice-creamy, vibrantly-colored monthly calendar is melting as the temperature rises, so make sure to download it as quickly as possible!”

The design is available in both calendar and no-calendar versions. The calendar variant includes a functional date grid for July 2022, while the clean version leaves the artwork uninterrupted for those who prefer a minimalist desktop.

A Symbol of Hope From Ukraine

The ongoing war in Ukraine continues to influence designers. MasterBundles from Ukraine have created a wallpaper in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, with a bird symbolizing the freedom they hope to achieve through their prolonged struggle. Math Meets Nature

Philippe Brouard from France offers a refreshing take on aquatic life. He created a starfish-like shape using a mathematical formula and arranged the shapes on screen using a Poisson disc sampling distribution — named after a French mathematician. The final result evokes a pond with water lilies, perfect for cooling off in July.

“The objective of this date is to draw attention to the production and over-consumption of plastic bags worldwide, presenting alternatives to solve this serious environmental problem. It is urgent to change the behavior of all human beings regarding the use of plastic bags. For the preservation of the environment, we should use the same plastic bag for shopping, recycling or use paper bags. In this wallpaper I drew a plastic bag with a turtle inside it, as if it was imprisoned by its own bag, as if the ocean was reduced to a plastic bag, emphasizing the seriousness of this environmental problem, which has tortured both turtles and many others marine species.” — Designed by Carolina Santos from Portugal.
