Passkeys Week: A Week-long Deep Dive Into Passwordless Sign-ins
Passkeys are steadily becoming the standard way to sign in to online accounts. They replace passwords with a device screen lock—fingerprint, facial recognition, PIN, or pattern—and work across modern browsers and platforms. On 10 October 2023, Google Accounts made passkeys the default sign-in method for all supporting devices, marking another milestone in the shift away from traditional passwords.
To help developers keep pace, Google is hosting Passkeys Week from 23–27 October. This online event is designed to provide everything needed to implement passkeys successfully. During the week, follow @ChromiumDev and @AndroidDev on Twitter for new learning materials, including blog posts, case studies, and pathways to earn passkeys badges on your Google Developer Profile.
Live Q&A with Passkey Engineers
A key highlight is a live Q&A session on 25 October at 10 AM PDT on the @GoogleDevelopers YouTube channel. Passkey engineers from Google will be on hand to answer questions in real time. Use #PasskeysWeek to join the conversation and showcase your own products that support passkeys.
The session will be recorded and made available on the channel after the event, so those who cannot attend live can still catch up on the discussion.
