GitHub has launched GitHub Campus TV, a weekly Twitch channel aimed at students and emerging developers. The channel has already aired its first two programs. In Office Hours with Eddie Joude, the GitHub Star of the Year discussed open source history, inclusive community building, and how he stays on top of thousands of GitHub notifications. Joude also took audience questions and offered advice on launching a first open source project.
On the creative side, GitHub Senior Software Engineer Denise Yu led Doodling for Technologists, an interactive workshop on using simple drawings to tell technical stories. Yu demonstrated how anthropomorphism — giving faces to everyday objects — can make complex ideas more approachable and fun.
