From spreadsheet to shipped app at 30,000 feet
Mario Braz, a finance professional on Stripe's GTM Business Value Consulting team, boarded a long-haul flight with a problem and deplaned with a working production application. Using v0, he built a customer-facing value calculator mid-air—no formal engineering training required.
The tool lets Stripe's go-to-market teams generate tailored financial hypotheses for various customer profiles on their own, removing the need to route every request through the small Business Value team. A task that traditionally spans months of cross-team product development was finished before the plane landed.
"Stripe encourages experimentation and curiosity, and v0 helped us accelerate from idea to innovation in no time."

Why spreadsheets were the bottleneck
Stripe's Business Value Consulting team quantifies the financial impact of using Stripe—revenue growth, scale and efficiency, risk mitigation. Their models were trusted across the business, but locked in spreadsheets that were difficult to use. Even standardized use cases required manual support from a small team.
"We invested heavily in training, but the field kept giving us the same message: the models were powerful, but the spreadsheet format created too much friction and was too complex for AEs to use consistently," Braz recalls. Simplifying the format didn't help. "Spreadsheets introduce cognitive overload. The moment an AE opens one, it signals complexity, regardless of how much you try to streamline it."
Value quantification remained bottlenecked on one team, capping the adoption of value-based selling across the GTM organization.
What made v0 the right pick
Other low-code options were on the table, but v0 won out on its ability to read intent beyond the literal prompt, generate cleaner, more intuitive code, and offer one-click deployment to a secure public site. Mobile access also meant fixes could be made on the go.
"v0 has an excellent ability to synthesize the intention of its user beyond simply what's on the AI prompt, leading to optimal results."

The resulting application recast Stripe's complex financial models into a guided interface. Users see clean inputs with detailed documentation instead of a wall of variables. "When AEs see the application, the path becomes immediately clear," Braz says. "It focuses them on the inputs that matter and creates the structure they need to drive a confident, consistent value conversation."
Adoption metrics and workflow impact
Excluding the launch-week spike, the v0 app averages 92 unique weekly internal users versus 23 under the old Google Sheets model—a 288% increase. Engagement runs deeper than visits: roughly 10 unique value presentations are exported weekly, with 126 produced since launch. At an estimated 3-4 hours saved per deck, that's 30-40 hours of FTE time reclaimed every week.
Three weeks post-launch, two results stood out:
- Time to generate initial value hypotheses decreased by ~80%
- Multiple CxOs granted executive sponsorship after seeing the app in live sales conversations
Field feedback was immediate. "The tool has made me excited all over again about Stripe's opportunity to sell into Enterprise by talking directly to CFOs," one rep said. Another wrote: "Just finished a call with a CFO and earned their sponsorship—and this calculator was pivotal." A third called it a "life changing tool!"
The effects rippled outward. Solution Architects began building their own demos, Product Managers started creating prototypes to guide engineering, and sales teams now mock up Stripe's checkout experience using a prospect's actual branding and products. "Instead of telling, our sales teams are now able to show users what their end-customer experience will be like," Braz notes.
Lowering the cost of experimentation
What began as one person's experiment became a force multiplier for Stripe's go-to-market organization. "Given our small team size, this tool now allows us to have significantly broader reach. From SMBs to Enterprise customers, we now have the opportunity to influence how our GTM teams engage with users," Braz says.
The tool never came from a product brief. It emerged because the cost of experimentation dropped low enough that the person closest to the problem—a finance professional with no coding background—could build it himself.
"Don't underestimate how Vercel can bridge the gap between business expertise and technical implementation," Braz advises. "Subject matter experts without traditional engineering backgrounds can create sophisticated, high-impact applications when given the tools and incentives."
For teams with insights trapped in spreadsheets or business cases that demand too much manual work, the distance between having an idea and shipping a solution has never been shorter. Sometimes it takes no more than a single flight.
