GitHub Universe 2025 returns to San Francisco with AI development at center stage
GitHub Universe is set to return to Fort Mason Center in San Francisco on October 28–29, 2025. The two-day event brings together developers, engineering leaders, security professionals, and open source maintainers for a program built around AI-powered development, hands-on learning, and community networking.
In-person general admission passes are currently available at a Super Early Bird discount of $700 off the regular price. Team discounts are also available, with up to an additional 35% off for groups of eight or more. Virtual attendance remains free, with live-streamed keynotes and on-demand session access.
Three tracks, three focus areas
Content at this year’s conference is organized into three tracks spanning intro, intermediate, and advanced levels. The first track, Build faster, stay in flow, centers on AI-native development workflows, agentic AI collaboration, and the latest GitHub Copilot capabilities. The second track, Secure every commit, covers AI-driven vulnerability detection and embedding security practices into existing development workflows without slowing innovation. The third, Automate and scale with confidence, focuses on CI/CD pipeline optimization, measuring Copilot ROI, and aligning engineering metrics with business goals.
Hands-on experiences and community spaces
Beyond the sessions, the event floor is designed for direct engagement with tools and peers. The new Makerspace offers an interactive playground where code powers art, music, and robotics projects. The Open Source Zone returns in expanded form, giving maintainers and enthusiasts a place to connect and demo their projects to attendees; project owners can apply for a slot through the Universe registration portal. A Career Corner will help attendees polish their GitHub and LinkedIn profiles.
The hallway track remains a key part of the experience, with organizers describing it as a space where serendipitous encounters happen between sessions. Attendees can meet maintainers of projects they use daily, strike up conversations at demo booths, and network with peers over meals.
