Enterprise Server 3.0 hits general availability
GitHub Enterprise Server 3.0 has reached general availability, following two release candidates that more than a hundred organizations tested during the new release candidate program. The company describes this as the largest change to Enterprise Server to date, and it brings several GitHub.com-native features to self-hosted customers.
What’s in the release
The headline additions are GitHub Actions, GitHub Packages, and the code and secret scanning tools that make up GitHub Advanced Security, all landing on the server product for the first time. GitHub positions Actions as the most-used CI tool on GitHub.com, and its availability on Enterprise Server now lets teams run their full idea-to-production workflow without leaving the platform.
Changes from the release candidate period
The feedback gathered during the candidate phase shaped the final 3.0 release. GitHub says it addressed friction in user journeys, added audit log events, and improved the product’s stability, reliability, and scalability. The documentation was also revised, particularly the infrastructure requirements, so that teams can get started more easily.
