Git Merge 2022 Wrap-Up: Talks, Summit, and Community Highlights

Git Merge 2022 has come to a close in Chicago, where the Git community gathered for two days of collaboration and learning. The event featured 16 talks, three workshops, and a Git Contributor Summit, alongside plenty of informal discussion. Notably, $10,000 from ticket sales was contributed to the Git project through the Software Freedom Conservancy.

The annual conference is designed to unite Git users and contributors, offering a mix of technical sessions and hands-on workshops. This year’s Contributor Summit gave maintainers and frequent contributors a rare chance to connect face-to-face and discuss the project’s direction.

For those unable to attend, all session and workshop recordings are available on the Git YouTube channel. Topics ranged from debugging workflows using git bisect to recent enhancements in git merge, as well as detailed examinations of Git’s object storage architecture—content suited for attendees at any skill level.
