Field Reports from the Nourse and LDC Theaters

Two engagements, one successful termination and one fatal counter-assassination, were reported to the Guildmistress this cycle. The first action took place in the CMC lab, where a redheaded target of above-average height was eliminated with two taped black-and-orange nerf darts, deployed alongside Kennedy's grenade.

Returning to Nourse, the operative ascended to the third floor and walked directly into an active firefight. Kristine and Reid were firing from the lounge, with Grace, Berlinm, and Brucenta holding the far end of the hallway. The enemy element retreated to the south stairwell, and the operative, supported by Kristine and Reid, advanced. On the second floor, two nightfire shots—one to the breast, one to the stomach—dropped Berlinm and Brucenta. Grace then mounted a sustained defense from the stairwell bottom.

Grace's tactics were sound: she laid down repeated salvos of rubber bands at ground level. The operative dodged each volley and returned fire, missing narrowly several times. Kristine and Reid then moved into the line of fire, absorbing the barrage and opening an opportunity. The operative closed the distance up the stairs after Grace had exhausted her ammunition and delivered the killing shot to her now-unprotected chest.

With the floor secured, the operative exchanged stories of the engagement with the largely deceased floormates and retired. A postscript apologizes for the accidental death of a roommate and argues that the success of the mission should earn a pardon.

The second report is shorter and ends in fatality. While eating breakfast in the LDC, the operative spotted a wary Nate leaving the dining hall. The plan was to finish the meal, don a mask, and pursue Morrow from a distance. Nate, however, returned early—masked and carrying a fully loaded Maverick.

The operative ran to the upper dining hall and drew a concealed lightsaber, correctly assessing that bullets were useless against this opponent. Blowing through the heavy wooden entrance doors, the operative could feel Nate's breath closing in. A duck-and-spin maneuver produced a cut across the Enforcer's arm, but not before his pistol discharged, sending foam and rubber into the operative's lungs.

The final words to the Guildmistress acknowledge the wound is mortal and express the hope that the tale will be remembered in the spirit of vengeful dexterity that the Assassins cultivate.
